Welcome to The (e)Grommet

This blog is just a bit of a thought pad to work alongside my masters degree in elearning technologies.  Expect the entries to be sporadic, frequent, interesting, dull or any of the above.

There’s so many off-the-shelf solutions available that it is a minefield for the newbie – so we’ve all got to learn to surf somewhere (hence ‘the grommet’, a surfer term for a beginner - my mate Spen is a big surfer/snowboarder/extreme sport fruitcake and the words of wisdom are his).

Share your thoughts if you have go the time or the inclination, we’d love to hear what you use, what works, what doesn’t and even if you have major problems and forebodings about elearning.

One of my colleagues thinks it will make lecturers part-timers who give lectures to a video camera and then have little else to do. Interesting point in times of economic change. Is he right?

Oh yeah, couple of rules I’ve got -

  1. Let’s play fair
  2. I’m not going to allow this to be used for PR for elearning companies

Come on in, the water’s fine!
